Pollution in Bangladesh
Bangladesh has about 140 million people and most
of them still suffering for potable water. There
are more than 3-4 thousand water polluting industries
(most of them are Textile, Dyeing & Washing).
Most of them don't have any waste water treatment
system. There are around 60-70 towns and sub towns
not built with planned solid waste management system
at all. There are a lot of (1000-1200) medium and
small size hospitals/clinics running without any
hospital waste management system. Moreover there
are a lot of Cement Clinker Grinding mills, Pharmaceuticals,
Tanneries, Steel industries, Food & Beverage
and other air polluting industries in the country
need proper pollution control solutions.
Recently the Bangladesh Govt. has formed Environmental
Law & Court and giving pressure to the polluters
to control their Pollution. Now the entrepreneurs
have been started searching for their appropriate
technologies. Bangladesh Govt. has taken the following
major steps for Environmental promotion of the country.
1. Banning of Two Stroke engines from Dhaka City;
2. Banning of Polythene Bags from the country;
3. Promoting CNG operated vehicles in the country;
4. Planning to reduce pollution from Brick Kilns;
5. Taking step to control pollution from Hospitals,
Clinics, Textile, Dyeing, Tanneries, etc.
